HELMUT KOLLER playfully engages with the aesthetics and characteristic
pose of Schiele. In terms of style and approach, however, Koller clearly goes his own way.
It is not the contour and processual quality of the line used by Schiele to make his expressionistic expression that marks Koller's work, but the deliberate plasticity of the body. Koller subtly makes Schiele's indefinate space more concrete and draws the event into the here and now.
Koller individualizes the timeless and universal figures of Schiele and places them in the present.
As with Schiele, the nakedness of the body is always aesthetic and never objectionable.
